Thomasina Sawyer: A Musical

Mark Twain’s beloved American folk tale spun for the audiences of the new millennium.

This gender-swapped classic makes heroes out of two young girls as they navigate their way through propriety, blood oaths, friends and nemeses, pirates, and the hair-bending frustration of school.

Cast size: 3yf, 1ym, 1ym/f, 1f, 1m + youth and adult ensemble. Book by Kaitlen Osburn.

Synopsis

It’s Saturday morning, and Thom is in trouble again, stuck whitewashing Aunt Polly’s fence. She quickly recruits every kid in town to do the chore for her and escapes to meet her best friend Huck at the graveyard. Their plan to perform a charm to cure Thom’s warts is interrupted when they witness Doc Robinson forcing their friend Muff Potter to help him with a midnight graverobbing! Huck is terrified of what Doc might do to them if he finds out they saw what he did, so Thom agrees not to tell. But the next morning, Muff is framed for the graverobbing, and Thom realizes she will have to choose between her loyalty to Muff, her loyalty to Huck, and her desire to simply run away from St. Petersburg and all of its rules…and live like a pirate.
